東京六本木のFujifilm Squareで、「幕末・明治の写真師 内田九一」展が３月１日より８月３１日まで3回に分かれて開催されます。内田九一は長崎出身の写真師でみなさん教科書でおなじみの明治天皇のご真影を写したことで知られています。これは大阪の内田写真と富士フィルムとのジョイントイベントで、この写真展で展示される写真には全て英語解説文がついており、当校がその翻訳を担当しました。この期間に東京に行かれる方は、長崎、そして当校ににゆかりのあるこの写真展にぜひ足を運んでみてください。
富士フィルムのサイトには九一はこのように紹介されています。
弘化元年（1844年）長崎に生まれ、幼少にして両親を失う。蘭医ポンペに舎密学を、松本良
順を通じて筑前福岡藩士・前田玄造などに写真術を学んだ。慶応元年（1865年）大坂（大
阪）に写真館を開業し、後に横浜・馬車道と東京・浅草で開業した。明治5年（1872年）明
治天皇最初の御巡幸（西国巡幸）の際、宮内省御用掛として随行し、名所旧跡の写真を数多
く撮影した。また、御巡幸前とその翌年、天皇を撮影している。歌舞伎俳優などの写真撮
影・販売でも有名となり、神田駿河台に豪邸を建て暮らすも、肺結核を患い、明治8年
（1875年） 死去。享年32。
